Jack Camille | Partner, The Wealth Genesis
In this article, we sit down with Jack Camille, Financial Adviser & Partner at The Wealth Genesis
So Jack, please tell us a little about yourself?
I’m originally from London, but I spent much of my childhood in Suffolk, where I attended boarding school from the age of ten. Later, I studied business management at university in Oxford. After graduating, I moved to London, and eventually to Geneva, where my journey in financial advising began. From there, I transitioned to Nice, where I’ve been living and working for the past eight years.
I love the lifestyle down here. As an expat abroad, you really get to appreciate and embrace your surroundings, and for me, the weather plays a huge role in my quality of life.
What brought you to finance and advising?
From a young age I had an interest in the markets, but it’s a challenging field to break into unless you pursue investment banking. I took a different path earlier in my career, so I came into finance a bit later. I secured a position with a company in Geneva, which gave me a solid foundation and taught me the basics, along with my own wider reading.
I then moved to France, where I began working for another company and it was here that I became fully qualified. I fell in love with this job because I genuinely enjoy helping people with their finances and find this far more rewarding than simply making money for a corporation.
I particularly enjoy working with expats because I am an expat myself - I can relate to my expat clients, and I understand how challenging it can be to manage finances across different countries.
Can you tell us more about your experience and qualifications?
I hold a bachelor’s degree in business management from Oxford Brookes University. In addition, I achieved my Level 4 Diploma in Investment Advice from the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) in the UK. Although this qualification isn’t required offshore, I felt it was essential to have as it has broadened my expertise.
Since I’m based in France, I also completed the AMF certification (Certification de l'Autorité des Marchés Financiers), which is the French equivalent for financial professionals. Again, whilst not mandatory, I wanted to enhance my knowledge and better support my clients in France and across Europe.
Which part of this career do you find the most rewarding?
One of the most rewarding aspects is helping people who are stressed or confused about their financial situation. For example, some clients have lived in multiple countries and have assets spread across different places. Others may have received a large inheritance and don’t know how to handle it, or they might need help planning for their young family’s future.
Listening to clients and understanding their needs is key. From there, I help them identify areas to address and implement a strategy. Seeing their relief and confidence grow as they realise, they’re in a far stronger position than they may have thought is incredibly satisfying. Financial planning is an ongoing process, and it’s interesting to adapt plans as clients’ needs evolve.
I love the ‘people’ aspect of this job. I enjoy the variety of individuals I meet - from different parts of the world, different ages and at different stages in life. I’m a ‘people person’, and finance is just one way I connect with others.
Another rewarding aspect is helping clients grow their wealth. It’s gratifying to see investments perform well – especially for clients who have come to us in crises after bad advice or bad investment selection.
I also love helping clients with estate planning, ensuring their wealth can be passed on to loved ones. I often get to meet their families and develop a personal relationship with them. It’s a privilege to be a part of their financial journey and legacy.
Finally, what do you enjoy doing outside of work?
Being active is a big part of my life, and living in a place with incredible weather has been a game changer. Coming from the UK, I’m used to grey skies, so the sunny climate here is a real treat. I used to run around Regents Park, and it just wasn’t the same. Here, it’s sunny 300 days a year, and it’s just great to spend so much time outdoors, whether it’s hiking in the nearby mountains, cycling on scenic paths, or running along the coast.
France is a large and diverse place, and I love exploring this country. Road trips are a favourite pastime, as well as visiting different regions to experience their unique cultures. As I’m based in Nice, Italy is just 40 minutes away, which is another wonderful opportunity for exploration.
I’m grateful to live in such a vibrant and varied environment. Just a short drive from Nice, you can find yourself in completely different settings, whether it’s a quiet village or a bustling city, which keeps life exciting.
